Tastes in Music...

An eclectic taste in music causes my collection to house recordings from most styles and genres, although if pushed, I would have to say that the bulk of it consists of what is now termed "prog rock", but when I started my musical journey had no such mental baggage. I still have trouble with people who will not listen with open ears and minds and prefer to hide behind such terminology as "dinosaur", "pompous", "overblown" and "pretentious" when trying to pigeonhole this type of music.

Bands such as King Crimson, Gentle Giant, The Enid and Emerson, Lake & Palmer made music which for its time was challenging and innovative, and stands the test of time in the same way that good jazz and classical music does. Modern bands such as Djam Karet and Discipline from the USA and Porcupine Tree and Ozric Tentacles from the UK are still making interesting and rewarding music and getting precious little exposure in the media. Listen with an open mind!
